A CLARIFICATION...
When you apply for a dog you meet at Are You My Human, you are applying through our rescue partner, not directly through the lounge.
WHY DOES THIS DISTINCTION MATTER?
Although we are partners, we are separate organizations. Each team has a distinct role in the journey from rescue to adoption.
OUR ROLE
Lounge management and staff care for the dogs, get to know them, socialize them, introduce them to potential adopters, and help facilitate the adoption process.
We are the stewards of the dogs while they are in our care. although choosing adopters is a highly collaborative effort, lounge management do not receive or review applications. Ultimately the decision lies with rescue management.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
It is not first come, first served.
You must visit the lounge to meet the dog you are interested in to be eligible to adopt. If multiple people apply for the same dog, rescue and lounge management compare applicants based on quality of application and experience at the lounge to determine the best fit for each dog.
Applications are typically reviewed throughout the week. Applicants are notified and confirmed on Sunday afternoons, with adoptions being finalized on Sunday evenings.
IF YOU WEREN’T SELECTED…
You will receive a courtesy text on Sunday night or Monday.
We know how disappointing it is to be turned down for an adoption, but we are committed to finding the best fit for both our dogs and applicants.
If you are serious about adopting and open to other dogs, lounge management will continue to work closely with you to make it happen.
